PHIL & FILIPE SECURE HARD-EARNED FOURTH PLACE AT MONZA

Phil and Filipe secure hard-earned fourth place at Monza

Phil Hanson and Filipe Albuquerque claimed a hard-earned fourth place in the second round of the European Le Mans Series at Monza in Italy today (12 May). Phil started the race as usual in the #22 United Autosports Ligier, lining-up eighth on the grid.

At mid-distance Phil ran fourth and with just 70mins remaining, handed over the #22 to Filipe, Albuquerque resuming in fourth place, a position the Portuguese maintained to the chequered flag.

Phil commented: “Fourth place seemed out of our reach earlier in the weekend and I think if everyone else’s race had gone to plan I don’t think we would have been that high up. We struggled with pace this weekend, even against the sister car.

In terms of the championship, we are still in the hunt as the points all count towards the end goal. We need to stay consistent. We have our stronger tracks coming up where we have a good set-up, but in total today we drove to the best of our ability.”
